Resumo: Resenha do livro de Anaïs Fléchet Villa-Lobos à Paris: un écho musical du Brésil. Paris, L'Hartmattan, 2004, que discute sobre a criação do mito Villa-Lobos como o selvagem que chega na França da Belle Époque. Partindo de um "ponto de vista da história cultural e das trocas entre o Brasil e a França", a autora traz uma visão toda nova, colocando em evidência a dialética da alteridade e os horizontes de expectativas do público francês da época e a imagem que a elite brasileira queria mostrar à "civilização".

Abstract: Book review of Anaïs Fléchet’s Villa-Lobos à Paris: un écho musical du Brésil. Paris, L'Hartmattan, 2004. The text discusses the rise of Villa-Lobos' myth as a savage who arrived in France of the Belle Epoque. Starting from a "point of view of the Cultural History and of the exchanges beetwen Brazil and France", the author presents an entire new approach, putting into evidence the dialectic of alterity and the horizon d'attente of the French public of that time and the image that the Brazilian elite wanted to show to the “civilization”.
